About
The Visual Arts Program at Hamilton Middle School challenges and inspires students through an array of creative projects, collaborative lessons and assignments, while incorporating a variety of techniques and art mediums.
The Student as an Artist
At Hamilton, students are artists. They plan, design, create and reflect on their artwork of differing forms: drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics and crafts. Students are encouraged to develop visual awareness and include a certain amount of 'personal touch' within their creations. It is important for students to take ownership of, as well as develop a sense of pride in their work. Students also learn collaboratively in small groups by critiquing and analyzing artwork, and supporting one another in group-based projects.
